SECRECY OF THE PRAYER!
“Could you not watch with me one hour?” (Mathew 26:40).
In these days, many people ask like this.
“Brother, I am unable to pray. It seems that some power of darkness prevails at my home and it prevents me from praying. I want to pray and I want to maintain deep fellowship with God but I am unable to. I understand the importance of prayer and I know its necessities too. What should I do to pray earnestly?”
Jesus Christ was not only a role model for a prayer warrior but He was the one to teach how to pray. Above all, understand clearly that He wants to join you in your prayer. The reason for His liking to pray along with you is that you may feel tired and exhausted while praying alone.
He likes to be a friend of you in prayer. He stretches His arms towards you and asks “What! Could you not pray with me one hour? (Mathew 26:40). What is its meaning? It means “I want to be your friend in prayer. I would like to join hands with you and pray.”
Stretch your hands towards Him in order to pray with Him accepting His invitation. When you hold the hands of Christ, touch them and slowly rub them to know how it feels. First of all, you will feel His precious blood in them.
That blood will clear all the darkness which prevented prayer and bring in the glory of God to pray. Secondly, when you hold His hands, you will feel the deep wound in it. That hand is the one which had been pierced by the nails. Thirdly, when you hold his hands you will feel that you have been inscribed in the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16).
When you hold hands with Him and pray, may your room be transformed into a prayer room or the Gethsemane Garden! Let your ears hear the sound of Jesus praying with groaning, vehement crying and distress over souls. Then God will give you His burden of praying in your hearts. He will share His distress over souls with you.
He will speak to you saying “Son, daughter, the harvest is big. Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest. Pray for the latter rain. Pray to raise prayer warriors who would make a wall and stand in the gap.” Then prayer will depart from your heart. Yearn for the great experience of praying along with one whom you love. Do not pray alone but do it along with Christ. May He fill you with His presence today!
To meditate: “I sleep, but my heart is awake; it is the voice of my beloved! He knocks…….” (Song of Solomon 5:2).
