EAGLE ON THE HIGH
“As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the LORD alone led him” (Deuteronomy 32:11, 12).
Eagle is a royal bird. Just like, how a lion is a king to the forest, how a rose flower is a queen among flowers, the eagle is a king among all the birds in the sky. It will not come to the yard of a house and sit or build its nest within a home as the sparrow does. It will build its nest only in the high mountains and pine trees.
The Scripture compares God the Father to the eagle. It also compares Christ to a sheep and the Holy Spirit to a white dove. Similar to this, God speaks comparing the believers to eaglets. God describes the children of Israel vide Deuteronomy 32:11 “As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings.”
Of all other nests of the birds, the nest of the eagle is amazing and wonderful. It will bring big thorny branches and form five layers. Then it will spread bunches of leaves on each layer. Above them will be placed certain things like cotton and coir and finally it will look like a comfortable and luxurious stage. After carrying out all these things it will lay the egg and begin to hatch them with utmost care. It will protect the young ones from men who are trouble makers, wild beasts and the reptiles by placing them under its wings and feed them. It is enough for the eaglets to keep their mouth open and swallow what the mother bird places there as food.
When the eaglets grow, the first thing the mother bird does is to take away the leaves and the cotton so that the eaglets are devoid of the comforts thus far provided. The mother bird will dispense the habit of coming to the nest every now and then and feed the young ones. This will make the young ones lose the flabby flesh and will enable them to fly high in the sky.
God will take away all the pleasure from you and bring you to a position wherein you will hate the world and the purpose is to equip you with Spiritual exercises and experiences. It is not to trouble you but to enable you to fly high. If he breaks your nest the true indication is that He prepares you to rise and shine or to make you fly high.
Dear children of God do not worry or get disheartened while facing the struggles which God permits. Say “Thank you God for training me. Thank you God, for taking care of me. Thank you God, for breaking my nest.”
To meditate: “You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself” (Exodus 19:4).
